1) Is TV a good form of entertainment? Why?

C2 Task 1 (2.5-3 minutes)

Let the student talk for 1.5-2 Minutes.

Ask only those questions which the student has not covered while giving his/her talk.

1) Why is it good to have a hobby?

2) What sort of hobbies interest you? Why?

3) What would you prefer: doing hobbies on your own or doing them with friends? Why?

All these topics must be covered.

Finally, You must ask each student the following questions:

1. Does anyone you know have a hobby?

2. Why are hobbies less popular today than they used to be?

Skills to be tested

The student is expected to demonstrate his/her ability to;

• speak at length elaborating on a topic

• produce coherent utterances

• give reasons

• use appropriate grammar and a good range of vocabulary

C3 Task 2 (2-3 minutes)

You play the part of a student at an international school.

Your name is Eric/Erica. You are outside the school building during a break between classes. A classmate approaches you to ask you about something.

• Agree to let the student borrow your notes. Mention you noticed they weren’t in class and find out if everything’s OK. (Of course. I noticed you weren’t

• Ask if they want to just copy your notes and return them. Let them know they can take the notes home and give them back tomorrow. (Do you want to copy the notes and give them back later?… You can take them home with you, if that’s easier…. You can give them back to me tomorrow in class.)

• Invite them to a cafe after school. (By the way, some of us are going to a cafe after school. Do you want to join us?)

• Accept an invitation to a football match tomorrow night. (OK, let’s go.)

Yes, that’s what I’ll do. Is it OK if I give them back to you later today?

Yes, that’s fine. Or you can take them home with you, if that’s easier.

Actually, maybe it is. I can sit down and copy them while I’m watching TV tonight.

Great. You can give them back to me tomorrow in class.

I’d love to, but Tm leaving right after school to help my mum prepare dinner. What are you doing tomorrow?
